Charles was a member of Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church where Charles was choir leader for more than 50 years. He loved singing and was a member of several quartets that performed at local churches and community events. Charles had a career in the grocery business that began at Taylor's Grocery as a teenager. Charles was part-owner and manager of Rebel Market and later the Stewart Hinkle Value Market at Piggott. He very much enjoyed his customers and being a part of the local community. Charles served 6 years in the Arkansas National Guard. He was a board member of the Piggott School Board from 1976 to 1981, served as President, and was proud to have participated during the funding and building of the then, new high school.
