Lorene Battle, 93, of Cabot, Arkansas, formerly of McDougal, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011, at her home in Cabot, Arkansas. She was born September 9, 1917, in Pollard, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Joe Higdon and Beulah Dunlap Mathers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elihue Battle; daughter, Loretta O'Guinn and husband Harold; grandson, Steve Gott; sister, Clennie Reed; and many half brothers and half sisters. Survivors include three daughters: Phyllis Melton and husband Larry of Corning, Arkansas; Norma Davis and husband James of Cabot, Arkansas, and Pansy Gott and husband Everett of Middleton, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Richard, Gwen, Shane, Shala, Teresa, Shelia, Sherry, and Wayne; sixteen great-grandchildren: Christy, Kevin, Casey, Mandy, Chuck, Nick, Maddie, Kinsey, Asher, Chase, Daniel, Christina, Brian, Ashley, Terry Lee, and Tammy; thirteen great-great grandchildren: Brooklynn, Lauran, Brennon, Matt, Gabe, Garrett, Reed, Tyler, Hayden, Sam, Austin, Terrin, and Drew; two sisters, Louise Rice of Corning, Arkansas, and Maxine Chandler of Cabot, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 31, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard, Arkansas, with Bro. Loy Culver and Rev. J.N. Holmes officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers are Richard Davis, Terry McGurick, Jim Chandler, Darrell McKinnon, and Greg White. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Cypert, Mayor of Cabot, Eddie Joe Williams, Arkansas State Senator, Rev. Joe Holmes, Rev. Nathan Holmes, Rev. Tim Gaddy, and Arkansas Hospice.
