Obituary

Almarita McGlown, 86, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away from pneumonia November 5, 2023, at Piggott Community Hospital. She was surrounded by family as she was reunited with Jesus and her loved ones that have passed on.

She was born on May 28, 1937, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Charles Wilbur and Nora Belva (Borden) McGlown, who married in 1932. In 1939, she lost her mother 3 days after her brother Homer was born. She would be the only child to this union that would live past one birthday. Almarita's father then married Ruth Lila Busby in 1941.

Almarita was a unique person. She was known for her phenomenal memory and her family called her the family historian because she could tell you the day everyone was born and the weather or what else was happening on that day. She enjoyed flea markets and sewing. She sent dolls with clothes she made to Ukraine and several of her family enjoyed the clothes she made for their dolls.

She was a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church. She loved her church family and most of all her Savior Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Homer Dewane; and two sisters, Nellie Arverzine and Etta Elizabeth. She is survived by her sister Brenda (Macky) Moore; niece, Amy (Paul) Mross; guardian and second cousin, Linda Elkins; and a whole host of second cousins, consisting of five generations who all loved her.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Tim McCluskey and Bro. Shelly Elkins officiating.
