Alta Mae Green, 87, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away July 27, 2019, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on January 6, 1932, in Ripley, Tennessee, and was the daughter of James and Lucy (Hoggard) Ridley. Alta was united in marriage to Franklin Neal Green on October 6, 1990. She was preceded in death by her father, James Ridley; mother, Lucy Mae Ridley; stepdaughter, Jerri Denise Johnson; brothers, James Enis Ridley, Elbert Dunn and Jewell Beeman. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Neal Green of Piggott, Arkansas; son, Sherman Lester (Jackie) Somers, Jr. of Batesville, Arkansas; stepson, Timothy Neal Green of Piggott, Arkansas; daughters, Carolyn Ann (Ray Joe) Patty of Glenwood, Arkansas and Debra Lynn Somers of Bastrop, Texas; stepdaughters, Tina Marie (Donald) Rogers of Biggers, Arkansas and Terry Louise Monnette of Piggott, Arkansas; sister, Violet Mae Bounds of Madera, California; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 2:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Ronnie Stevens and Paul McFadden officiating. Burial is in Mars Hill Cemetery in Rector, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be R.J. Finley, Will Pennington, Shannon Patty, Mike Pierce, Jason Somers, and Spencer Patty. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in Piggott, Arkansas.
