Obituary

Barry Burns was born at Hurley Hospital in Flint Michigan on October 3, 1962. He was the son of Bob Burns and Doris Carson Burns and proudly known as "Mr. Burns" by his grandmother, Blanche Burns and grandfather, Tolbert Columbus Burns.

Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Blanche and Tolbert Burns, his mother and father Doris Carson Burns and Bob Burns, his uncle Lindol Burns his nieces Shala, Brendan and Heaven, and his nephew Andy.

He was survived by his brother Bobby Burns and wife Kathy, his sister Renee Burns, his brother Jackie Burns and wife Brenda, and his sister Tonnie Bateman, and also many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his most loyal friend his beloved dog George.

Barry was a character. But he had a big heart, and a will to help anyone he could. Barry was a proud Republican and an active philanthropist donating to many charities including the Fraternal Order of Police, The Republican Party, The Hurley Foundation for Hurley Hospital in Flint Michigan, The California Wildfires and many more.

Barry also served his country which his proudest achievement in life. He was a member of the United States Army and was stationed in Idar-Oberstein Germany in the 80's. He was a member of the 2nd Battalion/81st Field Artillery Division serving under future 3 Star General John M Pickler. Barry also worked security detail once for President Ronald Reagan, also one of his proudest moments.

Barry was loved by his family and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank David Finley and his wife Terry for officiating and their unwavering support. We would also like to thank Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home for all the help they have provided.

Graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, Arkansas, with David Finley officiating.
