Berniece Johnson, 87, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away Feburary 4, 2014, at the Piggott Community Hospital. She was born on February 15, 1926, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Jess and Mettie Young Nichols. She was united in marriage to Henry Johnson on October 31, 1947, and to this union a son, David, was born. She was a member of Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Mettie Nichols; her brother, Lemuel D. Nichols; and her sister, Mathel Johnson. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Henry Johnson; her son, David A. Johnson and wife Brenda of Franklin, Tennessee; granddaughter, Jazz Johnson of Franklin, Tennessee; two brothers: Jesse Edgar Nichols of Piggott, Arkansas, and Gerald Nichols and wife Ruth of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Charles Richardson and Andy Newbill officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins Friday at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at a later date.
