Obituary

Betty Jean Moody, 88, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away March 4, 2018, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Missouri. She was born on February 28, 1930, on a farm outside of Piggott, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Ezra Floyd and Edna Elizabeth (Stewart) Blake. She had four siblings, Billy Dean Blake, Bonnie Louise Blake Bell, and twin brothers, Clayton Floyd and Elton Lloyd Blake. She attended school for 12 years in Piggott and graduated in 1948. Betty was united in marriage to Geraine Moody on January 12, 1952, and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1996. They had two sons, Larry Joe Moody and Johnny Blake Moody. She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Moody; sister, Bonnie Louise Bell; and brother, Elton Lloyd Blake. Geraine and Betty were baptized into Christ at the South Thornton Church of Christ on Mother's Day 1955. She was a longtime member of the South Thornton Church of Christ. Geraine was a successful farmer in Clay County his entire life. Betty worked at Brown Shoe and was a wife and mother to her sons and husband. Survivors include her son, Larry Moody and wife Barbara of St. Francis, Arkansas; grandson, Chris Moody and wife Sarah of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Avery Taylor, Camden Rylee, and Easton Sawyer; two brothers; Billy Dean Blake of Piggott, Arkansas, and Clayton Floyd Blake of Conway, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Richard Akins officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Chris Moody, Steve Bell, Clay Bell, Scott Blake, Tim Blake, and Tony Blake. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials can be made to the Children's Home in Paragould, Arkansas.
