Betty Jo Schmidt, 96, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away October 4, 2017, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Missouri. She was born on September 5, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Julius and Bernice (Brissendine) Thomas She was united in marriage to Johnie H. Schmidt on November 7, 1940, and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her son, Johnnie Schmidt; and sister, Mary Jane Smart. Survivors include her daughter, Hannah Featherston and husband Bill of Fort Myers, Florida; daughter-in-law, Linda Schmidt of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren: Jana Bernard of Fort Myers, Florida, Joey Featherston and wife Bobbie of Estero, Florida, Jason Schmidt and wife Stacy of Pensacola, Florida, and Johnna Reed and husband Darrin of Paragould, Arkansas; great-grandchildren: Brittany Piwowar and husband Robbie of Fort Myers, Florida, Brock Bernard of Fort Myers, Florida, Bailie Featherston of Estero, Florida, Jasa Reed of Paragould, Arkansas, and Ty Reed of Bloomfield, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 12:00 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Bro. John Heigel officiating. Burial is in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Joey Featherston, Jason Schmidt, Wade Smart, John Daniel Smart, Bob Featherston, and Darin Reed. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.
