Bill J. Glasgow, 85, of Mt. View, Arkansas, originally of Greenway, Arkansas, passed away on September 1, 2013, at the Stone County Medical Center in Mt. View, Arkansas.
He was born on April 29, 1928, near Greenway, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Luther C. and Ida Bain Glasgow.
Bill was brought up and baptized in the Presbyterian Faith. He served in the Navy during WWII, joining when we was 17 years old. He later served in the US Army. Bill graduated from Arkansas State University and taught Math in Greenway and Piggott, Arkansas, and in Orange County, California, where he retired from teaching. He will be remembered for having many great stories about his many adventures.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Bermen Koppenall on January 20, 1991.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers: Ezra, Elbert, Donald, and Bobby; and four sisters: Virginia Haywood, Geneva Walker, Juanita Cunningham, and Eulalia Haywood.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Glasgow of Mt. View, Arkansas; four children: Mitch Glasgow and wife JoAnn of Memphis, Tennessee, Phyllis Glasgow of Mt. View, Arkansas, Frank Glasgow of Mt. View, Arkansas, and Linda Glasgow of Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Melissa, Emily, Josie, Caleb, Cody, and Cullen; three great-grandchildren: Gia, Marina, and Luke; brother, Jim Glasgow and wife Elizabeth of Rockwall, Texas; two sisters: Louise Smith of Conway, Arkansas, and Ann Simmons of Augusta, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Tim McLeskey officiating. Burial is in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Family and friends are invited to First General Baptist Church on Taylor Street in Piggott following service at cemetery for luncheon.
