Obituary

Billie Jean (Greenway) Runyon was born April 19, 1932, in Blytheville, Arkansas, the daughter of Rev. Barney and Ann (James) Greenway, and departed this life May 9, 2024, at the age of 92.

She was united in marriage to Gerald Runyon April 14, 1956; and the birth of twin daughters, Shelley and Kelley, made their home complete.

Billie, along with her husband joined Trailers Chapel General Baptist Church August 1, 1957, and both served in many capacities in the ensuing years. Billie loved children and enjoyed teaching them in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and with her husband, being leaders for the youth group. She also served as leader for 4-H Club, Brownies, and Girl Scouts.

Mrs. Runyon and her husband supported their daughters in all their school activities, never missing a Mohawk football game where the girls performed in the band.

A special hobby for Mrs. Runyon was crocheting. She won many awards for her beautiful work in local fairs, winning Best of Show in the Memphis Delta Fair.

Mrs. Runyon is survived by her daughters, Shelley Warr and husband, Otis Warr of Mountain Home, and by Kelley Lee and husband Mark Lee of Memphis; her granddaughter, Grace Lee of Maplewood, New Jersey; and by her brother, Barney and wife Christie of Kennett; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Kathy Lawson.
