Bobby E. Montgomery, 82, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett, Missouri. He was born on October 13, 1931, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Claude O. Montgomery, Sr. and Vera Mae (Braden) Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Jr. and Donald; four sisters: Twyla, Pagene, Elaine, and Alice. Survivors include one brother, Rex Montgomery of West Plains, Missouri; three sisters: Claudena Bellers, Annetta Rogers, and Barbara Montgomery all of Piggott, Arkansas. He was also survived by many nephews and nieces and other relatives and also by many friends. Bob served his country in the early 1950s during the Korean War. He served with his National Guard Unit which was inducted into the regular Army during this time. He was the stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, working in a hospital. When he was discharged from the Army, he came back to the U.S.A. and started working for Brown Shoe Company of Piggott. He did this for over 30 years. He also worked for the City of Piggott Sanitation Department with his friends reading water meters. He did this work for around 15 years. After this he retired from working. He spent his retirement watching his nephews and nieces playing sports. Bob loved his Mohawk sports, his St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and his Arkansas Razorbacks. During his earlier years, he attended the First Church of God in Piggott, Arkansas. He also loved gospel music very much. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 3, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Loy Culver officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at noon on Sunday until service time.
