Brenda Whaley, 74, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away September 17, 2018, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. She was born on February 28, 1944, in Piggott, Arkansas and was the daughter of John and Vessie (Scott) Clark. Brenda was united in marriage to Jerry Winston Whaley on July 29, 1977. She was preceded in death by her father, John Harley Clark, mother, Vessie Mae Clark; husband, Jerry Winston Whaley; and infant sister, Stella Louise Clark. Brenda was a longtime member of First General Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. She loved her church and her Sunday School class very much. She was instrumental in organizing and forming the food bank at the church. Brenda enjoyed reading and going to the library and loved singing in the choir at church. Survivors include her son, Grant Elser and fiancé Laura Bonds of Jonesboro, Arkansas; sister, Linda (David) Shipley of Greenway, Arkansas; granddaughter, Brianna Nicole (Cody) Kidwell of Kennett, Missouri; great-granddaughter, Melissa Faye Kidwell; great-grandson, Jaxon Cole Kidwell; stepchildren: Mike Whaley, Melody Whaley and, Sherry Sisson; many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the First General Baptist of Piggott in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Chris Brantley officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Jim Poole, Darrell McCrillis, Jerome Meade, Tony Pace, Matt Mobley, Lester Edwards. David Shipley will serve as Honorary Pallbearer. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas.
