Carl Ray Book, 90 years and 9 months, went to his heavenly home at the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Walnut Ridge on January 16, 2022. Ray was born April 16, 1931, to Riley and Lottie (Parton) Book. He was the 8th child out of 10 children. Ray was a minister for many years and loved to preach and sing. Even when he could not remember anyone, he could still (and did loudly quite often) sing all the words to Amazing Grace. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Book; infant son, Carl Book; the mother of his children, Louella Book; parents, Riley and Lottie Book; brothers, John (Sue) Book, Jay B (Phylis) Book; sisters, Edith (Emil) Simpson, Ethel (Ernest) Hampton, Margie (Forrest) Jones, Vegilee (Leonard) Binkley, and Louis (Owen) Harmon; brother-in-law, Chuck Pridmore; and sister-in-law, Mary Faye Book. Survivors include his sons, Dale Book of Sidney, Arkansas, Mark Kevin (Thressa) Book of Piggott, Arkansas; daughters, Kathy (Bobby) Burns of Sidney, Arkansas, Joy (Gaylon) Edwards of Gentry, Arkansas; brother, Doilous Book; sister, Faye Pridmore; granddaughters, Jeanna (John) Sweet, Krystal (Jeremy) Johnson, Cyndal (Jesse Barnett) Burns, Marisa Book, Kristy (John) Meenan, Karla (Erik) Goughnour; grandson, Chad Book; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jamie) Goforth, Liberty (Michael) Simpson, Kenzy (Jhett) Dougherty, Eva Gillihan, Dakota, Calib, and Ella Book, Lauren and Mason Meenan, Cassidy, Kaitlin, Damian, and Casey Johnson, Hayden Shaw, and Brandon Potts, Hannah, Naomi and Lillian Goughnour; great-great-grandchildren, Lydia Boatman, Beulah Gofarth, Adaline Hogue, Gracelynn Simpson, and Marcus Gillihan; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Mike Book officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Johnson, Damian Johnson, Kaitlin Johnson, Dakota Book, Cyndal Burns, Liberty Simpson, Michael Simpson and Brandon Potts. Visitation is Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
