Carl Eugene Pollard, 83, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away October 2, 2020, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. He was born on October 19, 1936, in Pollard, Arkansas, and was the son of Dallas Layton and Elma Marie (Webster) Pollard. Carl was united in marriage to Betty Lou Dover on November 11, 1954, and to this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Layton and Elma Pollard; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Beverly Pollard; sisters-in-law, Charlene Pollard and Sue Benson. Carl attended Shady Grove Baptist Church his whole life becoming a member, being saved and baptized at age 12, and eventually was ordained Deacon on May 4, 1975, serving for 45 years. Carl farmed all his life. He began farming with his daddy at a very young age and later worked alongside his brother, Charles Pollard and later with his nephew Terry Pollard until he retired. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Pollard of Piggott, Arkansas; children, Pam Morris and husband Alan of Van Buren, Arkansas, Penny Hill and husband Steve of Piggott, Arkansas, Jeff Pollard and wife Ashley of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Cara Saffell and husband Steven of Van Buren, Arkansas, Callie Kimes and husband John of Alma, Arkansas, Paul Morris and wife Jeri Beth of Alma, Arkansas, Jonathan Morris and wife Jen of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Jake Pollard of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Bailey Pollard and Storm Archambeau of Little Rock, Arkansas, Sydney Tarno of Kennett, Missouri, Holden Tarno of Piggott, Arkansas, James "Beef" Hill and wife Elena of Pollard, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Mason, Carson, Sawyer, and Aspen Saffell, Braden and Payton Kimes, Ryan and Josh Morris, Owen Morris, and Harvey Leon Archambeau; sister, Eugenia Williams and husband Jerry of Piggott, Arkansas; brothers, Dallas Pollard and Charles Pollard and wife Una of Piggott, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Donald Benson of Piggott, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 5, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. at the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Mike Book officiating and Bro. Robert Gunnels assisting. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Paul Morris, Jonathan Morris, Steven Saffell, John Kimes, Jake Pollard, and Terry Pollard. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Shady Grove, Dallas Pollard, James Beaver, Terry Pollard, Matthew Vancil, Ronnie Holmes, Lambert Williams, and Jerrod Lowe. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott.
