Charles Louis Ellis, 94, of Maynard, Arkansas, passed away July 28, 2017, at the St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was born on March 12, 1923, in Clay County, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Charles Franklin and Etta Hayes Ellis.
He was united in marriage to Edith Gayhart on April 5, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, and to this union six children were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his parents; a grandson, Trey Grantham; a son-in-law, Robert Victor Tallman; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his six children: Charles C. Ellis and wife Marjorie of Durand, Michigan, Alvin O. Ellis and wife Linda of Doniphan, Missouri, Robert Ellis and wife Patricia of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Martha Grantham and husband Roy of Crossett, Arkansas, Aileen Tallman of Maynard, Arkansas, and Gerald Ellis and wife Renee of Weston, Ohio; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Ellis of Success, Arkansas; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Al Freezor officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Rick Ellis, Allen Ellis, Joe Ellis, Ivan Ellis, Keith Jordon, and Ronnie Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Wayne Jordan and Jack Thompson. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
