David Russell MacDonald, Sr., 78, of Piggott, Arkansas, formerly of Rochester, New York, passed away December 10, 2020, at the Arkansas Continued Care Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was born in Rochester, New York, and was the son of the late Stewart and Dorothy MacDonald.
He was united in marriage to Karen Rae Long and to this union two children were born. His wife preceded him in death along with his sister, Judith Acosta.
David worked as a Truck Driver for Rochester Air Frieght and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He later owned a lawn care business in Rochester, New York, where he enjoyed working outdoors. In 1987, David and Karen moved to New Mexico. He and his wife enjoyed camping and he especially loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren. Eventually he moved to Piggott, Arkansas, where he was very well liked by many friends and family in the community. He was very active at the Piggott Community Center, and he was always happy to lend a hand to others.
Survivors include his son, David MacDonald and wife Janet of Piggott, Arkansas; daughter, Cheryl Green and husband Ian of Calamus, Iowa; grandchildren, Patricia L. MacDonald, Heather Wilker and husband Ben, and Ronald J. Falconer, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, are in charge of the cremation arrangements. No services are planned.
