Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved brother, Denver Wesley Newton, Jr, on October 27, 2024. Denver was born on July 13, 1961, to the late Denver (Skip) and Margaret (Bowman) Newton in Arnold, MO. Denver was a graduate of Van Buren High School and was a proud member of the Van Buren Bulldogs.

He is known for his talent in basketball and played in many memorable games from the 1975-79 era. Denver went on to play basketball at College of the Ozarks. Denver lived several years in Springfield, Missouri where he worked for Major Brands Distributors and then settled in Piggott, Arkansas later in life near his sister and her family and retired as a purchasing agent for General Baptist Healthcare.

Denver was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan and loved it when Spring training rolled around to begin a new season. One of his greatest joys was fishing on the Current River with his dad Skip.

He is survived by his sister, Tracy Cole (Scott), and his niece and nephews, many other cherished family members to include his beloved "Aunt Bert" and many friends who will mourn his passing.

There will be a ceremony with family and close friends Monday, November 25, 2024, in Van Buren to honor Denver's wishes to have his ashes scattered in the river in front of our family home.
