Obituary

Dewey C. Holcomb, 92, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away October 18, 2025, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

He was born on August 23, 1933, in Pollard, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Sidney and Bessie Geneva (Branson) Holcomb.

Dewey was united in marriage to July 20, 1961, to Jan Rose Causey. She preceded him in death on February 11, 1997. He was also preceded in death by brother, Gary Bruce Holcomb and sister, Glenda Brewington. On November 8, 1997, he was united in marriage to Paula Jean Smith.

At 18 years of age, Dewey was drafted in the US Army. He served 8 years in the Army being discharge as Corporal. Five of those years, he spent in England and Germany during the Cold War. Afterwards he joined the Army National Guard, were he retired as platoon sergeant with about one month short of 26 years of serving his country. Dewey began working for the City of Piggott as a lineman leaving for 6 years for Southwestern Power Administration before returning to the City of Piggott working his way up as Electric Department Superintendent. He retired after 26 years of serving his community. He also served many years as Commander of American Legion Post 38 and was a member of VFW.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 28 years, Paula Holcomb; son, Mark Shane Holcomb and wife Nancy of Rector, Arkansas; stepchildren: Tina Jones of Piggott, Arkansas, and Larry Jones of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren: Tara (Holcomb) Rigdon, Cody Holcomb and wife Bethany, Bryce Conley, Whitney Conley, Taelor Baldwin and husband Cole, and Kody Swink and wife Katie; great grandchildren: Lexi Rigdon, Hunter Rigdon, Elizabeth Holcomb, Matthew Holcomb, Bella Brown, Everett Conley, Everleigh Hall, Hyder Baldwin, Reese Baldwin, Karl Swink, Klay Swink; great-great grandchildren: Karter Tucker and one "on-the-way"; brothers, Garland Max "Bud" Holcomb and wife Sonya and Steve Holcomb; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Cody Holcomb, Brian James, Scott Roofe, Charlie Poole, Eddie Lowe, and Brian Haley. Larry Massey will serve as honorary pallbearer. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Tuesday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
