Donnie Max
Holcomb
Nov 24, 1960 — Jun 10, 2026
Donnie Max Holcomb, 65, of Greenway, Arkansas, passed away on June 10, 2026, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
He was born on November 24, 1960, in Piggott, Arkansas. He was the son of Garland Max "Bud" and Sonya Ann (Crouch) Holcomb.
Donnie was united in marriage to Shawnda (Bond) Holcomb, on October 11, 1981, and this union produced 3 wonderful children.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shawnda Holcomb of Greenway, his parents Garland "Bud" and Sonya Holcomb of Piggott, his sister Beckie Wolff of Rogers, AR and his children: Jacob and his wife Lyndsey Holcomb of Greenway, Caleb and his wife Hannah Holcomb of Greenway, and Payton and her husband Jacob Turner of Paragould. His 5 grandchildren that he loved to spoil rotten: Arriana, Wesley, Harlee, Kaden, and Lylah. His father and mother-in-law, Paul and Joyce Bond of Greenway. Along with many other relatives and friends.
Donnie met the love of his life at the tender age of seventeen, Shawnda Bond. Shortly after meeting, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. He graduated basic training on December 15, 1978, in Company A – Third Battalion, where he served 6 ½ years as an infantryman; before he was honorably discharged in 1985.
As we all know, Donnie had a wandering spirit and went on many adventures with his wife, Shawnda, and never without his hat! They settled down in Greenway, Arkansas, where he became mayor on April 3, 1996, and served his community until 2010. Later in life he served his community again, as a caretaker for Piggott Memorial Gardens Cemetery until his passing.
Donnie was able to enjoy many adventures with his wife, parents and sister, going on cruises, traveling to see the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls. He never wanted to slow down and always lived his life to the fullest. He was a true fixer of all things. He was our go–to–guy for our family and helped us all. He loved us with all his heart.
His journey with us may have paused for now, but he would not want anyone to stop living life to the fullest and fitting all that you can into your time on earth. As he always used to say to everyone, "I'm waiting on you!"
Honorary pallbearers: Jim Poole, Rodney Besserman, Carl Clemons, Terry Wallace, Bobby Harris, and Gary Wallace.
