Douglas Arthur Toombs, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away January 8, 2018, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
He was born on July 30, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, and was the son of the late Clovis and Stella Pollard Toombs.
Douglas served in the United States Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic. He continued a career in aviation after discharging from the Air Force. He worked for Alliance Aviation working as a mechanic and also managing smaller airports. Douglas was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice Rose Spence.
Survivors include his two sons: Tim Toombs Veresh of Sealy, Texas, and Brad Toombs of Plymouth, Michigan; two grandchildren: Josie Veresh and Dylan Veresh; three nieces and one nephew; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. in Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Matthew Collier officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of arrangements.
