Edward McFarlin, 84, of Trumann, Arkansas, passed away March 2, 2020, at the Monette Manor in Monette, Arkansas.
He was born on January 27, 1936, in Campbell, Missouri, and was the son of Olen and Eathel (Case) McFarlin.
Edward was united in marriage to Wanda Louise Brittingham on April 11, 1957, and to this union two sons were born.
Edward was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. He served in the
Arkansas Army National Guard from 1953 until 1957. Edward began working at the Piggott Nursery after High School. From there, he was recruited to sell insurance for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Having the experience in sales and fixing things on the farm growing up, He and his wife Louise owned and operated the Montgomery Ward store and then Ross-McFarlin Ford in Piggott, Arkansas. He was a member of the Piggott Masonic Lodge #545. He loved to fish and enjoyed working on everything from cars to appliances. He was always there to lend a helping hand to his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Louise McFarlin; his parents, Olen and Eathel McFarlin; brother, Elton McFarlin; and sisters, Vagel Rodery and Doris Shelton Johns.
Survivors include his sons, Danny McFarlin of Trumann, Arkansas, David Edward McFarlin and wife Susan Dianne of Tamms, Illinois; brother, Otis McFarlin and wife Marilyn of Pollard, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Rondal Richardson officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Friday from 10:00 am until service time.
