Obituary

Ella Laverne Vaughn, 82, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away September 8, 2020, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. She was born on November 14, 1937, in Leachville, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Henry and Lou Jewell (Welch) True. Laverne was united in marriage to Jack Jaques on September 11, 1961, and to this union two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jack Jaques and Bill Vaughn; sisters, Nadine Patterson, Wilma Kerr, Betty Lou True and Shelby Jean McCallister; brothers, J.C. True, Chester True, Tom True and Jim True; nephews, Keith Patterson and Kevin True. Laverne was a member of the Church of Christ and retired from Brown Shoe Company. She loved to embroider and made many beautiful cross stitch pieces. She also enjoyed watching Westerns, doing word search puzzles, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. She especially loved all her family, and she remembered each one with a special birthday card. Her grandkids knew they would always get a card for every holiday. She delighted in serving her famous soup, and no one could make it better than her. At Christmas time she spoiled many members of her family with a gift of homemade fudge, along with banana and pumpkin bread. A few special friends also received these gifts. She was the last matriarch of her family, and everyone was always amazed at her unbelievable memory. Many special, funny moments will be retold over and over, and she left so many to tell. She will be so deeply missed by her two girls and son in law, her grandkids, all nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. But we are all so very thankful she is with Jesus now and we will see her again someday. She is survived by her daughter, Jacky Morgan and husband Mark of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughter, Kim Jaques of Harrah, Oklahoma; a very special niece, Sharon Bellers and husband Dennis of Piggott, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Emily Morgan-Cottrell and husband Michael of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Eric Morgan of Harrah, Oklahoma; one great grandson, M.J. Cottrell of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Scott Jacques officiating. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Clint Bellers, Dennis Patterson, Eric Morgan, Parker True, Jimmy True, and Michael Cottrell. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
