Elmo Hollis, 73, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away April 29, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
He was born on May 17, 1947, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Charley and Linnie (Allmon) Hollis.
Elmo was united in marriage to Carolyn Dean Morrisett and to this union a daughter, Carrie Lynn Hollis, was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Dean Hollis; brothers, Fred Hollis, Sidney Ray Hollis; and sisters, Margie Lee Wesserling and Bea Gilbert.
Elmo proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on June 22, 1970. He served as Quartermaster for the local VFW. Elmo spent a lot of time at the Sugar Creek Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his daughter, Carrie Lynn Hollis Anthony and husband Allen of Royal, Arkansas; granddaughter, Halea Anthony of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Jim Hollis and wife Barbara of Buda, Texas; sister, Nancy Benson of Piggott, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Paula Hollis of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Sue Hollis of Paragould, Arkansas; nephews: Richard Hollis, Jeff Hollis, Phillip Hollis, John Wesserling, John Hollis, Chuck Wesserling, David Benson, and Stephen Benson; nieces: Becky Shannon, Jackie Martinez, Anna Vince, and Debbie Sanders; many great nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 7, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Sam Shannon officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Richard Hollis, Jeff Hollis, John Hollis, John Wesserling, Marvin Kilbreath, and Jamie Wilson. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
