The family of Emma Templeton are mourning her passing on February 23, 2022.
Emma was born June 10, 1940, in Schweinfurt, Germany. From an young age Emma watched American movies and dreamed of coming to the United States. She met and married Walter Templeton of Piggott, Arkansas, and moved to his hometown. Emma spoke English, but not very well and with an accent when she first came to the states. She went to work at Brown Shoe Company and retired when it shut down. She "Americanized" herself, passed the driver's test, passed the citizenship test to become a citizen, and studied and earned her GED. Her English improved through the years but her accent was still present.
Emma has been preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Agnes Mager. Her sister, Annemarie Knauer and one brother, Willie Mager have also preceded her in death.
Her remaining family include her husband of 61 years, Walter Templeton; two daughters- Angela (Bert) Lambert of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Sandra (Delbert) Greene of Piggott, Arkansas. She has five grandchildren- Tyler (Alicia) Keller of Holcomb, Missouri, Megan (Luke) Brown of Arlington, Texas, Melissa Marrufo of McKenney, Texas, Kristen (Nate) Davis of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Jason Greene of Piggott, Arkansas. The grandchildren have blessed Emma's life with eleven children, ranging in age from 2 years to 17 years old. She has one sister, Erika Seih, that is in Germany. Emma also leaves behind three sisters-in-law: Judy (Paul) Hardin, Lola Hall, and Joyce Donehoo, and numerous other relatives overseas in Germany. She loved talking over the phone to her relatives and could go back and forth from German to English with ease. Over the years, she made numerous visits to Germany, which she enjoyed immensely.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear." Emma was a born-again Christian and we have comfort knowing we will see her again but until then we look for those little reminders of a love so dear.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas.
Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
