Freda Catharine Gott, 76, of McDougal, Arkansas, passed away May 16, 2017, in Corning, Arkansas, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on December 22, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Clyde Everett and Miriam Ellen Sherrill VanGordon.
She was united in marriage to Jackie Clyde Gott on April 28, 1962, and to this union two children were born. She shared 52 wonderful years of marriage to Jackie before he preceded her in death on March 21, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tim Smith; and brothers, Curtis Clyde VanGordon and James Everett VanGordon.
She is survived by one daughter, Freda (Gott) Smith of Dothan, Alabama; one son, Clyde Earl Gott of Paragould, Arkansas; a special daughter-in-law, Barbara (Odel) Gott of Paragould, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Jordan Allen Gott of Navarre, Kansas, Amanda (Smith) Lewis and husband Jimmy of Dothan, Alabama, and Megan Gott and friend Garret Chandler of Paragould, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren: Colton Chandler, Jacob Lewis, and Hadli Chandler; four sisters: Linda Kay Prince and husband Fred of Clinton, Arkansas, Barbara Dodd and husband Jerry of Knob, Arkansas, Una Virginia Ervin and husband Glen of Corning, Arkansas, and Mina Lou Tucker of St. Charles, Missouri; and one brother Thomas VanGordon and wife Barbara of Durand, Michigan and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Jerry Suiter officiating. Burial is in Mars Hill Cemetery near Crockett, Arkansas. Her nephews, J.L. Tucker, Larry Dodd, Mike Prince, Eddie Prince, Lyndel Ervin, and Jay Ervin, will serve at pallbearers. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Friday at 6:00 p.m.
