Garnetta Galyean, 93, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away October 11, 2017, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas.
She was born on April 15, 1924, in Rector, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late James Robert and Mary Alice (Cato) Eagle.
She was united in marriage to Talf Galyean on September 25, 1940, and to this union seven children were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband Talf Galyean on March 8, 1993; along with her parents, son-in-law, Delaney Walker; five sisters: Audrey Wheat, Grace Cox, Etta Dortch, Florence Galyean, and Vada Phillips; and four brothers: Willie Eagle, Virgil Eagle, Clarence Eagle, and Deward Eagle.
Garnetta was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 40 years and retired from Brown Shoe Company after spending many years as a Homemaker.
Survivors include her children: Glenda Wilson and husband Terry of Chipley, Florida, Billy Galyean and wife Carolyn of Piggott, Arkansas, Doris Walker of Corning, Arkansas, Ted Galyean and wife Melba of St. Louis, Missouri, Darrell Galyean and wife Sherry of Piggott, Arkansas, Debbie Gurlen and husband Sonny of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Ricky Galyean and Sherry Broadway of Piggott, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial is in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Drew Galyean, Shane Gurlen, Derik Walker, Neal Galyean, Brad Galyean, and Brice Scott. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
