Gary Wayne Scheffler, 73, of McDougal, Arkansas, passed away March 29, 2024, at Rector Nursing and Rehab in Rector, Arkansas.
He was born on August 4, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of Billy and Ruth (Whitehead) Scheffler.
Gary was united in marriage to Sandra (Vaughn) Scheffler on April 23, 1971.
Gary was a 1969 graduate of Corning High School. He worked many years at Brown Shoe Company and later at Darling Store Fixtures. He served in the National Guard where he carried a machine gun and earned many awards as a sharp shooter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being an assistant coach for the Piggott State Bank girls traveling softball team.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Ruth Scheffler.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sandra Scheffler; son, Derek Wayne Scheffler of McDougal, Arkansas; daughter, Andrea Scheffler of Harrison, Arkansas; sister, Sue Roark of Corning, Arkansas; two sister-in-laws, Kay Ricks of Republic, Missouri and Jane Matney of Derby, Kansas; one brother-in-law, Tim Vaughn of Bowdoin, Maine; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. George Bearden officiating. Burial is in Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Paul Catterton, Sterling Catterton, Shawn Ricks, Aaron Roark, Brit Roark, and Bo Roark. Honorary pallbearers will be Aldon Kilbreath, Eddie Lowe, and Jasen Ricks. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm in Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas.
