George Luther Bearden, 80, of Pollard, Arkansas, passed away August 17, 2026, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas.
He was born on November 7, 1945, in Greenway, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Ollie Esmer and Thelma Pauline (Boyd) Bearden.
George was a Vietnam veteran, serving from 1965 until 1967. Following his military service, he married Deborah Lynn Dover on June 7, 1969, and worked for General Motors in Michigan for eight years. He later worked at Darling Store Fixtures for nearly 32 years. George was of the Baptist faith and faithfully served as a pastor for many years, including 28 years at Salem and 14 years at McDougal. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Julia Johnson, Rita Karnes, and Paula K. Bearden; and grandchildren, Morgan Danielle Hardin and Aubree Bearden.
George is survived by his wife, Deborah Bearden; children, Cassandra Pointer and husband Walter, April Staggs and husband Danny, and Aaron Bearden and wife Jamie; grandchildren, Bryant Smith (Kaitlin), Elizabeth Jones (Jacob), Joey Staggs, Abby Staggs, Hanna Carter (Jorge Reyes), Ashlynn Bearden (Dominic Wooten), Logan Bearden, Kendra Troutman (Brian Byrd), Haley Troutman (Nick Cannon), and Destiny Jackson (Allison Jackson); great-grandchildren, Dane Kolesar, Ellianna, Tigney, and Havyn Cannon; brother, Jimmy Bearden; sister, Virginia Cate; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Jim Bearden officiating and Jason Self assisting. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Danny Staggs, Aaron Bearden, Walter Pointer, Joey Staggs, Bryant Smith, and Logan Bearden. John Turner will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
