After a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure, George Forrest, 85 passed away June 11, 2019 in Bossier City, LA. He was born May 28, 1934 in Piggott, Arkansas. Soon after graduating high school, he joined the Air Force where he served 26 years during which he received a Bachelor's degree in History. Before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant, he was elected Mayor of Benton and served for 15 years. George loved entrepreneurship with many businesses to his credit including George's Junque and Antiques, The Greenwood Flea Market, The Downtown Inn, The Way It Was Diner, Ice Cream Shop, Train Shop and others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Mary Forrest and his daughter Karen Forrest Castillo. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Lou Forrest, his son-in-law and four children. Rudy Castillo of Fort Worth, TX and children Misty Castillo Olsen and husband Pete, daughter Aubrey Olsen of Chicago, IL and Jake Castillo and wife Rachel, sons Jeremiah and Joseph Baker, Jason and Joshua Castillo of Rector, AR. Steve and wife Ginny, children Lisa Forrest of Phoenix, AZ and Thomas Forrest of San Francisco, CA. Richard and wife Brenda of Piggott, AR,children Dustin White and wife Kristen, sons Owen and Waylon and daughter Coralyn White of Springfield, MO., Logan White and wife Julie, son Conlee and daughter Kimber White of Pocahontas, AR., Lauren White Ellis and husband Davey and son Landen Gettings. John Forrest and son John Michael Forrest both of Charleston, South Carolina. Sally Forrest Carroway and husband Scott, children Gage, Georgia, and Gentry Carroway of Bossier City, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held July 7, 2019 in Piggott, Arkansas. Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church of Piggott at 2:0, Memorial service at 3:00 with Graveside afterwards.
