Geraldene Lang Evans, 81, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away January 28, 2025, at Piggott Healthcare and Senior Living.
She was born November 25, 1943, in Pollard, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Herbert Clayton Lang and Loreties (Busby) Lang Hudspeth.
She was united in marriage to Jack R. Evans on December 13, 1969. Geraldene was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Evans; grandson, Calvin Evans, Jr., and her sisters, Barbara Wheeler, Arlene Lang Poole, and Lela Maxine Phillips.
Geraldene brought warmth and joy to those around her. She had a servant's heart. Working years alongside her husband as a traveling salesman and later at Evan's Jewelry Store in Piggott, she also worked many other jobs over the years always being a faithful and hardworking employee. Her final job was working with her niece, Tracy, at the City Market, where she bloomed as a barista and saleswomen. She was always eager to care for others and spent endless hours caring for family, close friends, and others in need. All this flowed out of her unwavering faith which was a cornerstone of her life and provided her with strength and comfort throughout her years. Proverbs 31 describes Geraldene. She loved the Lord and shared her faith with others sowing many seeds along her path. She attended the Frist Methodist Church in Piggott until health prevented her.
She is survived by her husband, Jack R. Evans; son, Keith Evans and wife Mary; daughter-in-law, Pam Evans; grandchildren: Brooke Williams, Skyler Evans, Casey Evans, Justin Evans, Royce Evans, Brandon Nelon; nieces and nephews: Vicky Bratton, Anita Bellers, Terry Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Debbie Jackson, Karen Millikan, Gary Phillips, Tracy Cole, Amy Rucker, Mark Crews, David Crews, Laura Foster, Scott Evans, and Martha Montoya; and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Joe Cole officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas.
