Harold Gene Hanna, 88, of Piggott died Monday, Nov. 20, in Greene County as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Sardis, Tenn., to James Aubrey Hanna and Trudy Lee (Moore) Hanna, who farmed and raised livestock.
Harold was hired in 1947 by Brown Shoe Company and was transferred to the Brown Shoe Manufacturing facility in Piggott where he was employed as a machinist and foreman until his retirement in 1984. He worked part-time at Piggott State Bank, following retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Barney Hanna, and a son, James "Jimmy" Hanna.
Harold is survived by his wife, Sylvia Jean "Sue" Self of the home; a sister, Charlene (Hanna) Bartliff of Atlanta, Ga., a daughter, Tabatha Dunlap of Little Rock; a son, Derek Hanna of DeRidder, La.; his three granddaughters, Samantha Chandler of Cabot; Sabra Hanna of Monroe, La., and Ashtyn Hanna of West Point, NY; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Chandler of Cabot; a daughter-in-law, Merita Graddy Hanna of Piggott, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott with Bro. Todd Self officiating.
