Ira Francis Wood, 79, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away January 23, 2021, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born on July 22, 1941, in Taskee, Missouri, and was the son of the late Clarence and Dessie (Boyer) Wood. Ira was united in marriage to Evelyn Hillis on July 19, 1965, and to this union three children were born. Evelyn preceded him in death in 1995. On May 28, 1996, he was united in marriage to Juanita Pinkard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Wood; son, James Wood; his parents; brothers, Eugene Wood, Albert Wood, Edmond Wood, and Bob Wood; sister, Janie Young. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Wood of Piggott, Arkansas; son, Ira Wood, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Williamsville, Missouri; daughter, Teresa Swesey and husband Kenneth of Williamsville, Missouri; step daughter, Diane McAulay of Paragould, Arkansas; grandchildren, Amanda, Eric, Kenny, Jacob, and Julie; step grandchildren, Albrie, Amber, and Selena; brothers, Leon Wood and wife Shirley of Greenville, Missouri and Vernon Wood and wife Mary Jane of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Judy Jones and husband Floyd of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rucker Cemetery near Greenville, Missouri, with Bro. Charles Richardson officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
