J.W. Toombs, 78, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away January 30, 2024, after a short illness at Arkansas Extended Care Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

He was born April 30,1945, in Pollard Arkansas, and was the son of the late Lewis and Nell Toombs.

J.W. was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and worked as a truck driver for several years. J.W. was proud to say he had logged over a million miles on his long-haul trips throughout the US. Later, J.W. worked at the Piggott Community Cemetery where he took immense pride in his work. July 2021, J.W. was honored as the 4th of July Parade Marshal that paid tribute to his years of demanding work serving the community and working at the annual Piggott picnic.

J.W. is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Nell Toombs, and sister June Morris.

J.W. is survived by his brother Jerry Toombs of Piggott, niece Kathy Ballard (David) of Piggott, great nephew Kyle Phillips (Nikki), great-great-nephew Bradley Phillips and great-great-niece Maddy Phillips of Dover, Arkansas.

A private service will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of the services.
