James Wilford King was born on January 5, 1928 to William and Mae King in Piggott, AR and departed his earthly life and entered into heaven's gates on December 18, 2017 at the age of 89. He was united in marriage on November 23, 1946 to Marilyn Gallagher in Detroit, MI. To this union three children were born – Sharon, Kim, and Jim. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1952 and was a faithful and loving servant his entire life. His presence and encouraging words and smile will be greatly missed. He was an active member of Hitt's Chapel General Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon and served in that capacity for over 50 years. He was known to be a man of character and integrity, and lived a life that represented Christ in everything he did. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae King Clayton, his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Gallagher King, daughters, Sharon Wright and Kim Maclin, his brother, Bill King, and his sister, Gusta Currie. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Rhonda King of Marion, AR, his son-in-law, Darrel Maclin of Sikeston, MO, his sisters, Miriam Carpenter of Noblesville,IN and Shirley Christiansen of Alpine, TN, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, his special friend and companion, Maggie Parrish, and many other relatives and close Christian friends.Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Justin King officiating and Charles Richardson assisting. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday 1:00 p.m. until service time.
