Janet Elaine Smart, 87, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away on April 28, 2026, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Arkansas.

She was born on January 27, 1939, in Crockett, Arkansas, to Henry and Izalia (Rogers) Haywood. She was formerly of Piggott, Arkansas, and was a faithful attendee of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Elaine was united in marriage to Ray "Hub" Smart on February 1, 1960, and he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Mike Smart; her father, Henry Haywood; and her mother, Izalia Haywood; siblings: James Haywood, Boyce Haywood, Waynard Haywood, Roger Haywood, Hulen Haywood, Alma Joyce Anderson, Sue Haywood, and Wilma Ross.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Teresa Jenkins of Paragould, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Amanda Sanders and Kayla Jenkins; two great-granddaughters, Gabbee Sanders and Harper Jenkins; one great-grandson, Gavin Sanders; one great-great-granddaughter, Ally Sanders; siblings, Ella Jean Burnett of Nashville, Tennessee, Paul Haywood and wife Liz of Corning, Arkansas, Carolyn Galyean and husband Bill of Piggott, Arkansas, and Brenda Watson of Plano, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her.

Elaine loved shopping and redecorating her home, as well as engaging in arts and crafts. She had a special talent for quilting and embroidery, and she cherished the time she spent with her family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Kim Bridges and Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Steve Haywood, Neal Galyean, Travis Anderson, Connor Rodery, Gavin Sanders, and Baelend Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Burge and Matt Moore.

Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas.
