Jean Kemper, 91, of Kennett, Missouri, passed away January 20, 2024, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas.
She was born on March 4, 1932, in Kennett, Missouri, and was the daughter of the late James and Rosie (Pease) Aliston.
Jean was united in marriage to Hubert Hooten on January 6, 1950, and to this union a son, Steve Hooten, was born. Hubert preceded her in death on August 9, 1976. She later married Charles Kemper and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2006.
Jean was faithful to attend church. She attended Campbell 1st Assembly of God in Campbell, Missouri. She always loved the annual St. Francis Picnic. She especially enjoyed working in her yard and was awarded Yard of the Month on several occasions for her beautifully kept yard.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Steve Hooten; and her eight siblings, Malissie Campbell, Lizzie Ellen Venters, Nora Sanders, Carrie Aliston, Mattie McCarson, Calvin Aliston, Emma George, and William Aliston.
Jean is survived by her five grandchildren, Justin (April) Hooten, Autumn Earley, Tisha (Brandy) Scott, Ashley (Aaron) Midkiff, and Michelle (Glen) Rounsaville; great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Cody, Grace, and Harleigh Hooten, Alex Estes, Lex, Bryson, and Conner Pounds, Jaylee, Preslee, and Rylan Earley, Briana and Hunter Scott, Levi Midkiff, Anna Cooper, and Cody, and Brittany Rounsaville; great-great grandchildren, Nicholas Cooper and Abel and Keithlyn Rounsaville; daughter-in-law, Janet Hooten; former daughter-in-law, Debbie (Johnny) Gardner; one stepdaughter, Sherry (Mark) Nelson, two stepsons, Bill (Judy) Kemper, Ed (Karen) Kemper; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bruce Vinson officiating. Burial is in Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Justin Hooten, Brock Russell, Hunter Scott, Brandy Scott, Aaron Midkiff, and Buddy Moore. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
