Jerry Leland Bates, 61, of Rector, Arkansas, passed away on May 13, 2026.

He was born on May 1, 1965, in Carson City, Nevada, and was the son of the late Jim and Bonnie (Reed) Bates.

Jerry was united in marriage to Donna Murray on February 8, 1992. Together they shared over 30 years of marriage and many cherished memories.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army for over three years. He was a member of the Piggott Masonic Lodge #545 and a perpetual member of the Eastern Star Lodge.

Known for his kind and generous spirit, Jerry never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. He truly had a heart of gold. He enjoyed buying and working on junk cars and was well known as a "Class A Piddler," always staying busy with a project or finding something to tinker with. He also loved riding his Ranger and spending time outdoors and with family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Donna Bates; twin brother, Jimmy Bates and wife Teresa; brother, Keith Thrasher; sister, Sheila; niece, Kimmari Quintana and husband Mike; Brother-in-laws: Steve (Tami) Murray, Kevin (Amber) Murray, Chris Murray; Sister-in-law: Gail (Dave) Miller nieces and nephews: Millie Murray, Jack Murray, Steve (Julie) Murray, Tracy (Tommy) Morgan, Brandy (Steve) Cook, Chase (Lauren) Murray, Seth (Elizabeth) Miller, Logan (Haven) Miller, Austin (Natalie) Murray, Grayson (Tyler); Huckabay; many other relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.

A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, followed by military funeral honors. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
