Obituary

Jerry Wayne Williams, 79, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away September 15, 2022, at Piggott General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott, Arkansas.

He was born on October 1, 1942, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Roy Wayne and Violet Marie (Rieves) Williams.

Jerry was united in marriage to Eugenia Pollard on October 25, 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Williams; and sister, Lula Mae Williams.

Jerry served as Deputy Sheriff for Clay County and later was elected County Assessor serving his community for many years. He worked alongside his son at Infinity Welding. Later in life he worked at Hogwild, where he enjoyed visiting with customers. He was a hay farmer for many years. He loved his family and also his dog, Scooter. He was a longtime member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, where he served as song leader and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed gospel singing and listening to gospel music. He along with Alan and Pam Morris and Charles Pollard sang in a gospel quartet called Good News Quartet. Over the years, Jerry enjoyed many motorcycle trips with his friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Eugenia Williams of Piggott, Arkansas; daughter, Kim Maxie and husband Danny of Hoxie, Arkansas; sons, Chris Bellers and wife Christina and Matthew Vancil and wife Carla all of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren: Dustin Stephenson and wife Amanda of Hoxie, Arkansas, Todd Weathers and wife Tasha of Dexter, Missouri, Dylan Maxie and wife Kelly of Hoxie, Arkansas, Ashtyn Bellers of Kansas City, Missouri, Erica Burns and husband Josef of Piggott, Arkansas, Alex Bellers of Dexter, Missouri, Carlie Vancil of Piggott, Arkansas, and Will Vancil of Piggott, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Williams and wife Wanda of Piggott, Arkansas; bonus grandchildren, Alyssa Manor and Matthew Cheshire; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Mike Book officiating and Alan Morris assisting. Burial is in Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Chris Bellers, Matthew Vancil, Will Vancil, Alex Bellers, Alan Morris, Lambert Williams, Dylan Maxie, and Jeremi Wicker. Honorary pallbearers will be Josef Burns, Travis Lipsey, Kerry Williams, Virgil Rice and Matthew Cheshire. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home.
