Obituary

Jessalie Lyndon Settlemoir Toombs, 96, of Piggott, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born September 5, 1922, to the late Grover & Mayme Brady Settlemoir. Jessalie lived a full life providing a comfortable, welcoming home and many wonderful meals from her garden for family and friends. She spent many happy hours making beautiful quilts for those she loved and delighted in spending time with her family. Jessalie's faith in her Lord was always evident in good times and bad as she shared her Father's love with teaching, encouragement, love and even admonishment, when needed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Loyd Gossett, who was killed in action in WWII, and her husband of 54 years, Odell Toombs. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Brady and Gene Settlemoir and Hope Settlemoir Mathews, and her grandson, Fred Wegel. Jessalie is survived by her son, Darrell Gossett (Joan) of Piggott; and daughters, Gay Wegel (Roger) of Piggott and Sherry Larson (Gary) of Turlock, California. Grandchildren, Lorre Gossett Gookin (Gary) of Jonesboro; Justin Gossett (Regina) of Pollard; Brock Gossett of Fayetteville; Ashley Wegel Young of Piggott; Christopher Wegel (Christy) of Piggott; and Anna Larson of Turlock. Great-Grandchildren, Erica Gookin Collins (Chris), Emma Gookin Mason (Taylor), and Alex Gookin, all of Jonesboro; Brent and Riley Jo Gossett of Pollard; Bo and Bentley Young of Piggott; and Presley and AnnistynWegel of Piggott. Great-Great-Grandchildren, Kinsler, Kolby and Keaton Collins and Liam Mason, all of Jonesboro;a brother, JimmieSettlemoir (Esther) of Lizton, Indiana, and many special nieces, nephews and other family. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00, Saturday, at Hoggard& Sons Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be 2:00, Sunday, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Pollard. Pallbearers will be Bradley Dunlap, Gary Dunlap, Harold Dunlap, Brock Gossett, Justin Gossett, James Howell, Todd Latta and JavieSettlemoir. Special thanks to the staff at Magnolia Manor Assisted Living for their loving care and kindness the last two years.
