Johnny Howell, 83, of Pollard, Arkansas, passed away March 12, 2022, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. He was born on December 21, 1938, in Nimmons, Arkansas, and was the son of Roy and Lorene (Broadway) Howell. Johnny was united in marriage to Katherine Kay Holifield on May 26, 1961. Johnny was a longtime member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church. He worked at Brown Shoe Company for over 20 years and owned his own gravel hauling business. He enjoyed his family and visiting with people. He never met a stranger and loved to talk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Kay Howell; son, John "Johnboy" Howell; father, Roy Howell; mother, Lorene Howell; five brothers, Roy Howell, Jr., G.W. Howell, Troy Howell, Jimmy Howell and Arlin Howell; four sisters, Agnes Howell, Alberta Howell, Audry Darby, and Louise Howell. Johnny is survived by his children, Mark Kevin Howell and wife Laura of Piggott, Arkansas, James Dewon Howell and wife Lisa of Piggott, Arkansas, Teresa Diane Akers and husband Mike of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Zac Howell, Gary Boozer, Josh (Brittany) Pitts, Amanda (Matt) Culver, and Noah (Madison Cate) May; great-grandchildren, Josie Kay, Jasper, Averie, Kyle, and Jada two brothers, Gary (Sally) Howell of Piggott, Arkansas, and George Howell of Wichita, Kansas; brother in law, Jack (Diane) Holifield of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Matthew Collier, Mike Akers, and Bro. Loy Culver officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Steve Baker, Zach Baker, Dave Harrison, Josh Pitts, Wayne Hendley, and Jim Chandler. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
