Johnny Ray McKenny, Sr, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away February 26, 2025, at the Flo & Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was born on October 19,1942, in Boydsville, Arkansas, and was the son of Jess and Lucy (Permenter) McKenney.
Johnny was united in marriage to Laura Sue Carman on January 4, 1963. To this union three children were born: Johnny Ray McKenney, Jr, Kelly Franklin McKenney, and Shelly Lynn McKenney.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jess and Lucy (Permenter) McKenney, brother: J.C. McKenney, and daughter: Shelly Lynn McKenney. Johnny is survived by his wife: Laura Sue McKenney, two sons: Johnny Ray (Teresa) McKenney of England, Arkansas, and Kelly Franklin McKenney of Leachville, Arkansas, four grandchildren: Kelsey (Alex) Robbins of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Kaylee (Aaron) Nail of Sherwood, Arkansas, Karli (Quade) Wilson of Cabot, Arkansas, and Korey McKenney of Portageville, Missouri; three great-grandchildren: Sutton, Deacon, and Sawyer; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas. Another visitation will held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas, with Mike Book officiating.
Graveside service will be held at Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Arkansas, Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Korey McKenney, Aaron Nail, Quade Wilson, Ron Coleman, Larry Moore, Alex Robbins, Ricky Haywood, and Bert Cole. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Hathcoat, Wesley Hathcoat, Ricky Gallant, Terry Ford, Johnny Jenkins, Maverick Loyd, and Rick Loyd.
Memorials may be made to Flo & Phil Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews Ave, Jonesboro, Arkansas, 72401.
