Joline Holcomb Hurst, 94, formerly of Piggott, Arkansas, went to be with Our Lord November 18, 2022, in Poplar Bluff Missouri. She was born June 11, 1928, in Nimmons, Arkansas, to the late Rosie and Jeremiah Columbus Holcomb. Joline was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Garland A. (Bud) Hurst, and two sons, Steven Garland Hurst and Michael Raymond Hurst.

Joline was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She worked beside her husband, Bud, on the farm in Nimmons until their retirement from farming in 1989 when they moved to Piggott. Joline loved to "piddle" in her gorgeous flower beds and received much enjoyment watching the birds that came to visit her feeders. She was a fan of St. Louis Cardinal baseball.

Joline Hurst was a devout Christian. She had been a member of Nimmons Missionary Baptist, Calvary Baptist Church in Piggott, and First Baptist Church in Warren. While in recent years her health kept her from being active in church, she spoke often of her faith in God and exhibited a strong prayerful attitude. She was a firm believer and always in acceptance of God's will.

Joline is survived by a sister Naomi Barton of St.Louis, MO; three children, Belinda Grant of St, Francis, AR, Cecilia (Don) Whittemore of Warren, AR, Rick (Lilli) Hurst of Poplar Bluff, MO; ten grandchildren, Edmond (Sara) Hurst of Little Rock, AR, Sarah Stiefvater of Conway, AR, Shannon Grant of Poplar Bluff, MO, John (Ashley) Whittemore of San Antonio, TX, Joe David (Taylor) Whittemore of Austin, TX, Robert (Meredith) Whittemore of Nashville, TN, Daniel (Haley) Whittemore of Gulfport, MS, Nick Whittemore of Austin, TX, Olivia (Brody) Stone of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Sabrina Hurst of Poplar Bluff, MO; daughter-in-law Sue Hurst of Little Rock, AR; and ten great-grandchildren, Emily Hurst, Garland Hurst, Isabella Hurst, Lauren Stiefvater, Tyler Grant, Lawson Whittemore, Hudson Whittemore, Magnolia Whittemore, Tripp Whittemore and James Whittemore.

Visitation with the family of Joline Hurst will be Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with funeral immediately following at 12:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home with Brother Danny Self officiating. Burial will follow in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons Edmond Hurst, Shannon Grant, John Whittemore, Joe David Whittemore, Robert Whittemore, Daniel Whittemore, and Nick Whittemore. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of arrangements.
