Josie Maxine Brandon, 93, of Piggott, Arkansas, departed this life on September 26, 2022, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.
She was born on November 19, 1928, to Doctor (Dock) Aden Duckworth and Zelma (Grider) Duckworth. She was united in marriage to James (Bo) Brandon on June 3, 1946, and to this union two daughters were born. She graduated Piggott High School and Arkansas State University with a degree in Sociology. She worked at the Welfare Office, which is now Human Services in Clay County, beginning as a stenographer and retiring after 41 years as County Director of the Agency.
Josie professed faith in Christ while attending New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard, Arkansas, and was baptized at 11 years old in Black River.
While attending New Hope Baptist Church, as a teenager, she moved with her family to Piggott and became a member of First Baptist Church, where she remained faithful.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her stepfather, Ezra Mayo; daughter, Carol Ann Raybon; brothers Hillard and Carl Duckworth; step brother, Lester Mayo; and step sister, Pansy Mayo Gross.
Survivors are a daughter, Cindy Lee Miller (Walter) of Scott City, Missouri; son-in-law, Michael Raybon (Debbie) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two grandsons, Blake Raybon (Christy) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Jeremy Wiseman (Autumn) of Clarkton, Missouri; granddaughter, Sara Wiseman of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; stepbrother, Bill Mayo of Piggott, Arkansas; her great grandchildren, Katie Rebstock, Larry "Jay" Green, Jr, Mashayla Wiseman, and Gavin Raybon; and step grandchildren, Jackson, Jenna, and Stephen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Freddy Bowen officiating. Burial will be held in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas, with Jeremy Wiseman, Jackson Delourley, Michael Raybon, Blake Raybon, Tom Duckworth, and Roger Duckworth serving as pallbearers. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
