Judy Marie Emma Janettie Parker of Blooming Grove, formerly of Piggott, passed from this earth on Tuesday, August 11th. She was born in Clay County, Arkansas near Leonard on May 17, 1945 to Lloyd "Doc" McCluskey and Lily Burns McCluskey. Her parents preceded her in death. On July 29, 1962 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ray Parker in the Blooming Grove area. To this blessed union four children were born. Her husband, and children adored her as did many others. She started school in St. Louis but was further educated in the Greenway School District. Always a lovely country girl she was chosen as Miss Greenway in 1961. She was a daily worshipper, child of God and follower of Jesus. She also truly enjoyed corporate worship with her church family at South Thornton Church of Christ. She was faithful to bring a sacrifice of praise to her Lord. She also was a fixture in the Tuesday morning women's Bible study group. She was an instrument of the Lord. Her ministry was to show people that God loved them and that she loved them. Her cheerful demeanor and genuine love for people was evident everywhere she went. Mrs. Parker was well known and well loved by everyone that came in contact with her. She had many gifts. One in particular was this; if you ran into her anywhere, she made you feel better about yourself than you did before you saw her. She enjoyed a diverse career in the workforce. After a tenure in the banking business she spent eight years in public service as she was twice elected as the City Clerk of Piggott from which she retired. She had a knack for tirelessly performing volunteer work. She was humble and would not wish to receive recognition for helping people. Some of her volunteer projects included serving as a Sunday school teacher, church youth leader, the Easter Bunny, Mrs. Santa Claus, St. Jude bike-a-thon chairman and Clay County Relay-for-Life chairman. She loved to sing hymns of praise. She often lifted her voice and bent her knees in awe of Jesus. Christmas was a special season for her. She often decorated, cooked and prepared heavily. Celebrating the birth of the Christ child was always the focus. In her home, the Christmas story from Luke chapter 2 was always featured. Her husband and children endured Christmas music in the family home for at least six month out of the year. Traveling when possible was also special to her. One of her favorite trips was in 1996 when she spent a week in Seattle, WA with her sister-in-law Cindy. Her kitchen was her domain. She loved to cook, bake and experiment with new creations. The special times she got to cook with the grandchildren she referred to "Granny Heaven". She is survived by her husband and two sons, Allen Parker and wife Doris. Shawn Parker and wife Lori. One daughter, Christine Ward and husband David all of Piggott. Her youngest daughter Jennifer Parker Whitten preceded her in death in February 2001. Other survivors include grandchildren; Lisa Waggoner and husband Chad, Jake Morrison and wife Ashley, Chelsea Ward, Daniel Parker, Hunter Strickland and wife Sarah, Jillian Parker, Katy Strickland and Michael Parker. Great-grandchildren include Kimi, Chayla, Chase, Knox, and soon-to-arrive Parker Quinn. She relished the role of being a Granny. She also leaves behind a very special brother and sister-in-law, James S. McCluskey and JoAnn McCluskey. Brother-in-law Gary Trout and wife Carolyn. Sisters-in law, Lisa McKay and husband Thom and Cindy Parker Graves. Life-long precious friends Donald and Sue Benson and Eddie and Denise Lovins. Honorary children, Kim and Charles Adams and a son-in-law, Joel Whitten. Additionally she will also be mourned by several nieces, nephews, friends, and former co-workers. She touched so many lives. Her memory and influence will always be treasured. Through all her life's work, love, goodness and accolades the summary of her life can be defined in three simple words, Slave to Christ. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Bro. Shawn Parker, Bro. Tim McCluskey and Bro. Jeremy Pierce officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Gary Trout Jr., Travis Williams, Jimmy McCluskey, Matt McCluskey, Mark McCluskey and Miles McCluskey. Honorary Pall Bearers are Dennis Templeton, Chuck Minton, Brent Coomer, Don Garner, Bob Tidwell, Larry Holcomb, Sid Hollis, Richard Horner, Sam Williams and Mark Minton. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
