Obituary

Junior Sterling Small, 83, of Greenway, Arkansas, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior January 31, 2020. Junior was born, April 2, 1936, of Jesse and Bessie (Dobbins) Small in Hickoria, Arkansas. He worked along with his father while growing up in a farm family. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of 13 at Tipperary Missionary Baptist Church. He answered the call to preach at age 17 and was ordained to pastor at age 18. He began to pastor in 1954 at Hickoria Missionary Baptist Church and pastored four additional churches. He served and preached in many other churches until his health started to fail in 2000. He married his soul mate, Wilma Sharon Brady, on December 23, 1960. She was the love of his life. They lived in Greenway, Arkansas, for the last 45 years where they ran Small's Catfish Farm. He was known as Fish Man to many as they traveled from Michigan, Illinois, and many other areas to purchase fish. Together they had six children; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way and three great-great grandchildren. Junior loved life, God, his family, and talking to anyone who would give him a chance. He spent his time fishing, gardening, watching Wheel of Fortune, his dogs and his fish George. He could fix almost anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Junior was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers (Mentril Small, John Small, and Jack Small) and three sisters (Lucy Banks, Hazel French, and Opal Howell). He is survived by his wife Sharon Small, his children, Alma Staires, Gene Small, Trish (Jeff) Smart, Andy (Tammy) Small, Scott (Myrtie) Small, Steve (Jeff Simpson) Small; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren (2 on the way) and three great-great grandchildren; and his brother Charlie Small of Corning, Arkansas.
