Obituary

We announce the passing of Leisca Marie Chavez, who was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on March 28, 2026, at the age of 71. Leisca was born on June 21, 1954, in Piggott, Arkansas, to the late Louie "Sonny" and Laverne (Parker) Scott.

She lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and love for her family. She was truly loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Lee Roy Chavez, of 42 years. They were married on June 10, 1983, in Piggott, Arkansas. She stood by his side through all of life's moments, offering constant support and care, and their bond was the foundation of her life. She found deep happiness in raising her daughter and son, welcoming and loving their spouses, and watching her grandchildren grow-cherishing every moment with them and loving them beyond measure.

She is survived by Gavin (Lindsay) Chavez of Kennett, Missouri, and Amber (Chief Petty Officer Eric McKinney, Ret.) McKinney of Chesapeake, Virginia. Her grandchildren are Hannah McKinney of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Aidan McKinney of Chesapeake, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandbaby; and her siblings, Donna Loveless, Bonnie Tinsley, Shelby Scott; and in-laws, Antonio and Opal Chavez.

She loved to cook and share meals with friends and family. She could create the most amazing recipes and was known for her dumplings, peanut brittle, and cinnamon rolls. Her grandchildren especially loved her Mountain Dew Chicken. She also enjoyed writing biblical short stories. She had a natural gift for connecting with others, making people feel comfortable and valued.

Leisca was a lifelong member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Piggott, Arkansas.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family on, Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Rick Ethridge officiating. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
