Lorene Petty, 100, of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Piggott, went home to be with her Lord on May 16, 2017. Mrs. Petty was born to Barney and Ilah Morrisett
on March 26, 1917 in Boydsville, Arkansas. She graduated high school and married Dallas Petty in 1944, who preceded her in death in 1996. Also preceding her in death, her parents, sisters LouVinnie Bradberry, Delona Spinks, and brothers Richard and Norman Morrisett.
She is survived by her daughter Sula Mills, granddaughter Ursula Roman(Josh) and great granddaughters Baylor and Mallory Roman. Also surviving, brother-in-law Ralph(Mary) Featherston of Rector, Arkansas, sisters-in-law, Clara Mae Featherston of Marmaduke, and Wilma Featherston of Greenway, brother-in-law Buryl(Sharron) Petty of Greenway, sisters-in-law Della(Robert) Jackson of Piggott, Mary Rose, Viola, and Edna.
Mrs. Petty enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was the vet and doctor of the family and was well known for her cooking with her specialty being pies and chocolate rolls. She was very active at Shady Grove Baptist Church while living in Piggott.
In the 1950's she had a rural Avon route, delivering Avon in her new 1952 green Ford pick up truck. She never encountered a challenge she didn't conquer.
Mrs. Petty loved her birthday celebrations, especially her 100th birthday party, which she celebrated on March 26, 2017.
Visitation will be 11 A.M. Saturday May 20, 2017, at Shady Grove Baptist Church followed by funeral service at 12 P. M. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.
