Louise Edwards, 87, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away January 4, 2024, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas.
She was born on October 21, 1936, in Lutesville, Missouri, and was the daughter of the late Victor and Birtha (Crites) Allgood.
Louise was united in marriage to Lester Edwards on June 6, 1954.
Louise was a longtime and active member of First General Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. She served her church family by making meals for bereaved families over the years. She retired from Rector Sportswear after 21 years. During retirement, she enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises. She also loved gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Birtha Allgood; son, Steven Edwards; sisters, Irene Kennedy, Earline Allgood, Oleta Odom, Elizabeth Walker, Juanita Sisson, and Eula Fern Botch; brothers, John Allgood, Victor Allgood, Jr., and Jim Allgood.
Louise is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lester Edwards; daughters, Denise McCrillis and husband Darrell and Shelia Mayberry and husband Neal; seven grandchildren: Scott (Anna) McCrillis, Darren (Jamie) McCrillis, Bradley (Tiffany) Mayberry, Heather (Matt) Mobley, Andrea (Brian) Nanney, Kendra Edwards, and Shana (Ethan) Burns; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Jack Cole officiating and Enoch Richardson assisting. Burial is Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Scott McCrillis, Darren McCrillis, Bradley Mayberry, Matt Mobley, Brian Nanney, and Ethan Burns. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
