Maggie Louise Parrish, 82, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away January 26, 2019, at her home in Piggott, Arkansas, surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 27, 1936, in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, and was the daughter of George and Era Mae(Crews) Kemper.
Maggie was united in marriage to Eugia "Rex" Parrish on November 12, 1949.
Maggie was a member of Hitts Chapel General Baptist Church. She and her husband lived on a 40 acre farm near Corning, Arkansas, for many years. She worked at Clayton Shoe Company in Corning, Arkansas, and Brown Shoe Company in Piggott, Arkansas. She retired from Emerson Electric Company in Kennett, Missouri. She later opened the Farmer's Cafe in Holcomb, Missouri and in Piggott, Arkansas, where many locals enjoyed eating her fried fish. She loved cooking and sewing and enjoyed making baby quilts.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Lawrence Kemper; mother, Era Mae Kemper; husband, Eugia "Rex" Parrish; son, Daniel Rex Parrish; long time companion James King; sisters, Blanche Russell, Delia Smith, Margaline Brown Wood, and Nadine Kemper; and brothers, Walter Kemper, Charles Kemper.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette (Eddie) Howell of Piggott, Arkansas, Sandra (Don) Nelson of White Hall, Arkansas; son, Gary Ray (Angie) Parrish of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Bradley Nelson, Stephanie Howell, Danielle Brodnax, Justin Parrish, Jeffrey Nelson, Priscilla Seal, Andy Parrish, Kristi Nelson, Derren Parrish, and Chasidy Lambert; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Duplechin of Louisiana, and Loel Collier of Maynard, Arkansas; brothers, Wayne Kemper of Imboden, Arkansas, and Herbert Kemper of Reno, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 2:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Charles Richardson officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Justin Parrish, Derren Parrish, Roman Lambert, Billy Joe Seal, Brandon Seal, and Devan Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Parrish, Bradley Nelson, and Jeffrey Nelson. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Saturday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas.
