Hester Margaret Dunaway, 93, of Piggott, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Piggott Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Georgia Arnold Masterson; her husband, William "Bill" Dunaway; one daughter, Alice Bass; one brother, Thomas Masterson; and two sisters, Joe Ann Crucani and Regina "Jane" Dowdy.
She is survived by her three daughters, Ellen (Neil) Dover of Paragould, Arkansas; Hazel (Steve) Scott of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Angela (Jason) Self of Piggott, Arkansas; two brothers, Clinton "Buddy" Masterson of Waterford, California and Johnie Masterson of Kennett, Missouri; two sisters, Lou Davis of Mena, Arkansas and Pansy Swain of Kennett, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, Alicia (Myron) Beaver, Felicia (Dan) McArthur, Crystal (Paul) Ryans, Susan (Lee) Crouch, William Bass, Laura Chandler, Lisa Dover, Amber (Nathan) Deck, and Kelsey (Alex) Robbins; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson and another on the way; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
She was a devout Christian, and faithfully went to church all her life. She attended Gravel Hill General Baptist Church as long as she could.
She was a great mother, and always made time for her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when she had family gathered around her, and took any opportunity to spend time with loved ones and shower them with love and support. Whether it was a holiday or just another normal day, her door and her heart were always open. She will be greatly missed by many.
Pallbearers were Nathan Deck, Alex Robbins, Jay Masterson, Joey Crucani, Kevin Swain, and Myron Beaver.
Family visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, followed by a public viewing at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Jason Self. Burial will be held in the Piggott Cemetery, directed by Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home.
